What I Do in 2017

Since this site is sometimes #1 for my name in Google, I thought it’s probably time that I update it.

For the last two years, I’ve been working on semi-secret projects for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. I serve as the company’s emerging technology lead for Deep Blue Creative, with contributions made, specifically, to the Expedition X and Theme Park Development groups.

There’s so much about this industry that I love and so much that needs to be done to continually renew guest interest. The challenge to invent the park of tomorrow is something I wholeheartedly embrace.

From here on out, I will probably blog about theme park trends, techniques and tech.

Here’s what I hope to get to:

  • Per-seat/per-rider monetization giving guests the ability to augment each ride experience with a gift shop purchase
  • AR/MR ride enhancements/retrofit
  • Glasses-less 3D
  • Tech-enhanced dining
  • Wearables beyond MagicBands and TapuTapu

More soon!

This is the 2014 Subaru WRX … Sorta

The 2014 Subaru WRX at the 2013 New York Auto Show

While officially still a “concept” I find it hard to believe that the 2014 WRX will look much different when it arrives in showrooms later this year / early next year. Overall, I’m digging it but it’s not quirky enough to be a Subaru. It’s somwhere between an Impreza and a Lancer (especially from the side). At least it’s the right color.

The Internet Goes on Strike to stop SOPA / PIPA

Today, January 18, 2012, WordPress.com along with dozens of other sites like Reddit and Wikipedia are going dark in protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).

Even though SOPA has been delayed, its cousin, the Protect IP Act (PIPA) is set to go before the Senate on January 24, 2012.

Site owners are not crazy about either bill, as the burden of policing copyright holders will fall on the site owners themselves, rather than law enforcement.
